For post 6.3 we shall be taking a vastly different route by reviewing the first youtube published series on the blog. Most specifically that involves Watcher's Ghost Files, as created by Ryan Bergara, Ghost Files once again sees avid and memorable ghost hunters Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej return to their ghost hunting routes, in their attempts to recreate and capture the internets best paranormal evidence. As one a sceptic and the other a believer, travel across some of the world's most haunted locations in a quest to prove the paranormal.
As Ghost Files subsequently marks the first series produced under the Watcher banner for which bares particular and similar resemblance to the viral shows that the pair once previously created and starred in over at Buzzfeed Unsolved. With the pair once again capturing and translating their truly eccentric and infectious chemistry over to Ghost Files, as they leave there days on Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime and Supernatural valiantly behind. With Ghost Files proving to be one of the best Youtube published shows, as Watcher founders Steven Lim, Ryan Bergara, and Shane Madej prove to have rather now become experts in creating and producing some of the highest caliber, unscripted television the digital space as ever seen thus far.
With the internets favourite ghost hunters, once again returning to their very best, all the while setting new heights, as Bergara and Madej translate some of that very humour and chemistry that first made the pair famous over on Buzzfeed Unsolved. With the pair not merely newcomers but rather now seasoned professional. Providing a freshly invigorated, riveting and comedic show that packs an abundance of technical advancements, heightened production qualities and an historical conscious that enables the show to display both it's supernatural knowledge and depth. While further substantiating and making their absences from Buzzfeed both justifiable and probably also missed. With this latest iteration ensuring that everything fans loved from the original, for which Bergara and Madej, along with their crew mostly built from the ground up isn't gone to waste. Instead Ghost Files sees the pair translate everything that worked and gave Buzzfeed Unsolved it's critical reputation as well as further improving upon elements that before were either maybe underappreciated or at all not present. With strives made across the board, including the shows bunker, set design, sprawling and substantial locations as well as further improvements to overall video, production and presentation quality. Ensuring Ghost Files becomes a show that is fully fleshed out, while still centring the eccentric and unique pair of Bergara and Madej at it's very centre. As Bergara's faithful and believing personality mixed with Madej's intense skepticism and disbelief is a match that seems to never miss a beat, nor fail when creating entertaining content. Therefore serving as heartwarming and welcoming return for the pair.
As such a return has enabled and seen the pair no longer restricted by the former limited less than half an hour episodes, with Ghost Files seeing the pair stretch often way past the hour point. An improvement that allows Ghost Files to rigoursely explore much larger, scaled locations, as well as conducted much more thorough investigations into the paranormal. With time dedicated to allow Bergara and Madej to both utilise there new equipment and to get a much more in-depth look into the horrors that might be around them. With the editing especially creating and ensuring that Ghost Files balances both it's horror and comedic tones equally.
Although much like their work at Buzzfeed, the pairs relationship, bond and uniquely eccentric chemistry can still be found at the very core of the show. Something that after Ghost Files' release in September of last has seemingly continued ever since. With Bergara and Madej also producing another mystery led show, similar to that of their work on Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime. With Mystery Files premiering and ensuring that fans get their weekly dose of comedic humour and intriguing insightful into some of worlds biggest mysteries. While the much improved debrief style episode, for which releases every midweek, is further improved, benefitting from not only a loner runtime but also more behind the scenes footage and insight from the crew itself. As Ryan and Shane have created a seemingly fresh and truly inspired formula for ghost-hunting content, that serves as rather a perfect replacement. Whilst for diehard fans, the pairs live shows for which is receiving it's second iteration of dates, surely will only prove to deliver yet more antics. With Ghost Files once again returning to screens this August for it's second season as Ryan and Shane further shall provide us with what audiences can expect to be an abundance of both laughs and horrors. 4/5 Stars.
