Rather than continuing such a potent post about my favourite actors and trying rigorously to fit everything within one post. I've opted to instead separate such a post into two sections, with Part Two expanding upon with some very important actors, I consider to be some of my favourites. As well as some other very honourable mentions.
Simon Bird
For many of those not from Britain, the name Simon Bird might come and be a little too unfamiliar. However for those like myself, Simon Bird is a name and rather an actor illustrious with my childhood. Most notably known for his fanatic and equally charismatic roles in British sitcom's The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner, Bird has earned himself onto this list for his truly unforgettable roles and equally memorable moments that defined a generation, as well as many since. With his true breakthrough role coming in E4's teen comedy The inbetweeners, which like the actor has remained equally memorable and arguably apart of British culture. For many teens and generations it's become a must-watch and rather a coming-of-age story depicting both the raw and extremely funny lives of teenagers. Struggling and often failing to find there place in the world. While his career has continued onwards in the role as subsequent brother Adam in the British Sitcom titled, Friday Night Dinner. Based upon writer and creator Robert Popper's own experience's, the show follows and reflects the Goodman's weekly Shabbat dinner, and the endless stream of countless antics that follow. For many and myself included his influential roles in comedies throughout the previous decade have made him an unforgettable actor. Although for many years the school blazer of William McKenzie has arguably served and been his second skin, a factor which the actor now admits he's trying to escape. With it becoming evidently more apparent that his career depends on escaping the role of Will as his focus has rather shifted beyond and in contrast behind the camera. With him making his directorial debut in Days of the Bagnold Summer, while it's become a particular path that many are excited to see him take on, as he paves the way into a hopefully new generation of work.
David Harbour
Gaining critical acclaim and recognition for his portrayal as Chief Jim Hopper, on Netflix's science fiction drama Stranger Things. Harbour I believe is arguably one of the finest yet underrated actors currently working. For an actor who's worked and appeared in both the Marvel and James Bond franchises respectively as well as other subsequent supporting roles in Brokeback Mountain and Black Mass. Harbour has earned fans across the globe as a series regular and rather fan-favourite, being nominated for two Emmy Awards since. It's a role that seemed custom-made for Harbour, with often able to depict such raw yet equally honest love and honour. With his subsequent character, arguably one of the finest yet diverse of the show. As such conflicting emotions are often and have become a hallmark of his performance, whilst he's able to subtly portray both wholesome and grounding love as well as true anger and lingering pain. While when in contrast to his performance's in the two previous seasons, Harbour once again had to adapt to more a comedy involved narrative for his character. Which subsequently ended in his character's imprisonment, desperate to escape from a Russian Prison Camp in Kamchatka Russia, although such changes in tonal materials often won't mean a change in approach for Harbour. With him proving subsequently time after time, that he's seemingly a perfect fit for such a demanding and intensely driven role. As so often such pure intensity and meaningful intention fill his work, making him able to remain truthfully honest to his characters and narrative of the season. With David Harbour an actor you can't help but gradually understand is deeply enthralling and captivating, as his roles spanning decades have just further proved his senseless and seemingly astounding talent for acting.
Benedict Cumberbatch
Arguably an actor of various talents, Benedict Cumberbatch has forged a career and most notably a legacy that's seen him become truly one of the finest of our generation. Known for his remarkable and equally memorable roles both on stage and screen, Cumberbatch was instantly propelled into the stratosphere after his utterly infectious and credible portrayal of Sherlock Holmes seemingly perfect and expertly crafted for the modern age. As such little yet raw sensibilities were often foreseen, whilst such a man remained and lived entirely in his cerebellum, with overall little regard for the outside world. It's a masterful performance that I honestly believe still is his very best to date. With him the beyond the perfect fit for the role, whilst his chemistry alongside co-lead Martin freeman became gradually equally dazzling and infectious. It's tough to describe such a potent rise to fame, due to it being quicker and rather more interesting than an overnight success. As Sherlock was perfectly and expertly crafted to fit and mold to modern day ideals, and the reliabilities that were increasingly seen on social media and throughout twitter. Such an infectious portrayal became equally as pertinent, whilst his career has only astounded and risen since, hurdling towards several other projects and roles. Whilst simultaneously becoming the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Oliver award, Emmy, Golden Globe and eventual Oscar nomination. But rather than often evolving as such subject matter surrounding him, has only ever intensified, Cumberbatch has seemingly remained truthfully honest to him himself. As such roles he decides to take over the reigns of, never cease to amaze, whilst he regularly remains as entertaining both on and off screen. Known for giving riveting and interesting interviews, offering some much unguarded and often intiquing, insight into his line of work, Cumberbatch's memorable and remarkable career has only ever expanded and evolved since. Into roles as Dr. Steven Strange within the Marvel Franchise as well as separate leading roles in Drama's including The Imitation Game, 1917 and most recently The Power of the Dog. While he's also notably known for his often intensive and extensive styles and methods of acting, that have seen him better embody a characters mind and being even further. Beyond what many audiences have often come to expect, as he's remarkably and truthfully never afraid to push such severe and challenging acting boundaries to there very limits. Making him capable to often remain truthfully honest to his work and form of art, as he continues to remain one of the most riveting and inflectional actors of our times.
Eric Stonestreet
For many involved and included upon this list, there subsequent and most notably roles have arguably forged and highlighted there career's, with actor Eric Stonestreet another such example. Never have I felt such admiration and personal graduate for not just a performance but rather an actor, although I don't personally think he makes the show. It's clear that his subsequent casting was beyond perfect. That role in question, is obviously his portrayal of Cameron Tucker on ABC's mockumentary comedy Modern Family. For which he was made the recipient of two Emmy Awards and three following subsequent Golden Globe nominations. Like the series itself, Stonestreet has gained an equally loyal fanbase, beloving of his work. With so often his very role as Cameron Tucker was enriched with such relatable love and admiration, that honestly and meaningful seeps beyond just the frame itself and rather instead into audiences hearts. Whilst his chemistry with on-screen husband Mitchell, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, only ever strengthened the pairs chemistry and as equally remarkable and astounding comedic effect. Whilst it was and has continued to remain just as potent, as unconventional themes of adoption and gay marriage were often put at the very forefront of the comedy. Showing and demonstrating the show's and characters alike sensibilities and meaningful abilities. As it was refreshing and invigorating to see such potent issues and topics challenged and raised, whilst the show and actors alike only ever remained equally funny. With it a portrayal often beyond reasoning as it rather made revolutionary strides both on and off screen, that you can't help but take meaningful notice of. As still to this very day Eric Stonestreet's subtle and beautifully portrayal demonstrated how a comedy and character alike could be both funny and deeply caring.
Will Ferrell
Defining a generation is no such achievement or statement, to be taken likely. However actor, producer and comedian Will Ferrell has defined his career, often aligning his legacy with such comedy classics. Including his work in the Anchorman Franchise, Step Brothers, Elf as well as various other collaborations with director and producer Adam McKay. While the pair worked together they produced some genre and decade defying work, that still to this very day has remained equally memorable and fanatically entertaining. After initially establishing himself during the mid 90s, as a series regular and member of Saturday Night Live, Ferrell's career truly started once he began starring such classic, Hollywood blockbusters. Whilst such success has earned him a spot onto my list, due to his truly remarkable and memorable performances that so often had filled and consumed teenagers childhoods. Although he might not be such an actor for more grounded and character driven roles, he seems often best suited and categorised for comedy, as he's remained as equally humorous and amusing, while simultaneously his films also have remained just as equally enthralling.
Jonah Hill
Most notably known for varies accolades and subsequent comedic roles, Jonah Hill's place upon this list comes and will rather be dedicated to his work in more personal, character driven roles. As such over time, Jonah Hill has seemingly gone onto prove, how such of a deeply meaningful, complex and thoughtful actor he is. If anything within modern day sensibilities, he's one of the most versatile actors around, as his career began in such now Hollywood classic's such as Superbad and 21 Jump Street. Whilst his gamble in taking the reigns of the role of Donnie Azoff, in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street eventually paid dividends. As such a gradually and influential transition has seen him break away from such conflicting comedic roles and into more deeply complex characters, with far more broader, material range. With such appearances in Moneyball and True Story demonstrating a defying and remarkable, unquenchable thirst to establish himself as one of our finest actors today. As today he has two Academy Awards nominations to his name, demonstrating his remarkable and powerful ability, whilst such a transition can often be seen as difficult or challenging. It's a hallmark and testament to his ability, when considering how effortlessly flawless and simple, he's made it look. While a recent stint in Adam McKay's comedy, Don't Look Up has acted as a welcome reminder to just how talented he has become. As such a gifted actor in both comedy and drama's alike should never be understated or underestimated, with Hill becoming rather a technique and craftsman of his craft. Resulting with a subsequent versatile portfolio that spans decades and multiple genres. Making him one of the most underrated yet finest actors in current times.
Owen Wilson
For an actor well known for his long association with masterful director and filmmaker Wes Anderson, Owen Wilson has gone onto since span and forge a career that belongs rightful among Hollywood's greats. What can be so very difficult for specialist comedic actors, is that initial transition between both sides of work, that rely both on comedic relief as well as pure, intense drama. However it's such a task and transition seemingly most commonly associated and comfortably effective for Wilson, as he's able to expertly and often effortlessly demonstrate how truly great comedians alike, have often a deep, routed core of pathos underneath their comedic Hijinx. That best serves for some much deeper and driven roles, many for which he is well known for. However such a road and journey can often be associated with his acting style, as such an unconventional track throughout his career has lead to him often viewing himself as more as a writer, rather than an actor. As such work on Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums earned him subsequent Oscar nominations. While on screen his characters often have a deeply enriched and routed inner core, that serves for some meaningful and equally memorable and relatable backstory. That only ever seemingly can make audiences and critics alike feel more compensating and appreciative of his work. Such fascinating character study has become rather his trademark and underlying expectancy, as when I enter the cinema to watch an Owen Wilson film. I'm often left eagerly expectant to watch an often enrichening and fulfilled character, I can invest both my time and admiration into. As such a versatile and remarkable talent has fabricated and spanned a career subsequently consistent and equally compelling throughout his whole line of work.
Eddie Murphy
With an extraordinary career, defying and populating the comedy scene throughout both the 80s, 90s, that subsequently sore him become the biggest box office star of the time. Whilst Eddie Murphy's truly remarkable and equally momentous portfolio of work has spanned and accumulated over Six Billion at the Worldwide Box Office, making him a hallmark of comedy as well as the inner core of Hollywood's elite. While his place upon this post has been earned and is justifiably potent for the equally memorable moments his films served me, throughout my childhood. The most noteworthy of all being his collaboration with legendary filmmaker John Landis on the Comedy, Romance classic, Coming to America. As it's such a film I don't believe has remained as equally potent, funny or memorable since the day I first set eyes upon it. While to this very day, it has remained a complete and enthralling classic, demonstrating Murphy's seemingly god given gift for comedy. That just aren't funny, but rather also remain extremely powerful, funny and significant. As so often, such moments still exist to entertain, but also were extremely potent when it came to pushing such boundaries of what a Comedy could not only depict but rather look, feel, showcase and be structured. As Coming to America stood to the testament of visual and prosthetic advancements that have since gone on to define a whole generation and art of film making. Whilst it was fiercely brave, when it came pushing such boundaries of stereotypes, which have arguably since stood and remained as the films biggest and most influential moments. With such a gift for comedy translating into moments, that any other subsequent filmmaker or actor would find impossible to seep and seek just comedic relief from. Although such success seen throughout such decades might of diluted slightly, I can't help but feel equally pleased and appreciative when watching either his most latest work or such of previous times. As he has continued to remain equally potent and influential within such modern times.
Other Honourable Mentions
Although these such post's detailing and listing several contrasting categories are often difficult to whittle down. This such post in particular, has seemingly throughout been often rigorously difficult and consuming, when it came to how best I was going to initially rank and structure such a fine list of noteworthy actors. With all there equally defying and remarkable pieces of work, also of critical importance. However instead of devising an initial ranking, that I presumed would be just too difficult, I've instead given extra consideration when including some other very potent and memorable honourable mentions. Like many included, although I've been massively critical of there work, spanning often several decades, for so many it was the fact that I'd haven't seen enough of there work, that made for there unlikely but justifiable exclusion. With actor Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale being two particular actors who were very close to an inclusion, as both are so often able to depict such raw, driven sensibilities that you can't help but feel appreciative for. Whilst Christian Bale's work within The Dark Knight Trilogy stands as the best and most potent Batman portrayal to date. Such a feat not even I believe Robert Pattinson will surpass. While McConaughey's supporting and leading roles alike, have remained as equally complex and enthralling in such works as Dallas Buyers Club, Interstellar and A Time to Kill. Although Robert De Niro was initially included upon this listing, his work and inclusion into my honourable mentions section, still has offered me such the opportunity to detail his vast array of work and multiple talents that have given us some truly remarkable and enthralling characters studies, befitting to the history of cinema itself. With such works in the Godfather franchise, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and Casino being arguably his best, as so often the collaborations with legendary director Martin Scorsese have seeped and found the very and most potent best from him.
Another very influential and rather appearing actor, who's worked I've been familiar with for a long time now, is that of Daniel Kaluuya. As such roles in Jordan Peele's Get Out and Judas and the Black Messiah have shot him to deserved critical acclaim. Demonstrating his fine acting talent and ability, that has made people anticipating his upcoming releases in Black Panther and most notably Jordan Peele's latest horror, thriller Nope. Another very noteworthy inclusion, is that of Brad Pitt whose work I'm all but to familiar with and possibly should even be further up upon these postings. As his work has often demonstrated the actors meticulous ability to portray such conflicting contrasting emotions and sensibilities. That lend themselves and have remained equally perfect for any subsequent role he steps into, as such roles in Moneyball and Se7vn has remained arguably and personally most noteworthy. As Jake Gyllenhaal is yet another stellar actor, for who's work I've been extremely appreciative too, as he's able to showcase also such harsh emotions that are befitting to any subsequent genre or piece. With many upon these posts able to create the right balance and contrast between both subtly and expertly fitting into there subsequent characters and roles. With Gyllenhaal's pictures always delivering such potent and driven character studies, befitting to the piece and the actors abilities as well.
Seemingly what has remained equally impressive as his portfolio of work, is Ryan Reynolds subsequent projects and commitments away from the screen. As the actor has produced some arguable classics, that all are personally befitting to his particular style and talent for comedy. Which in term offers a very unique and often pleasurable experience, that has gone onto only expanded into a very loyal and core following. That's equally befitting and suited to his work. As such films personally can always offer such comedic relief, while simultaneously delivering other underlying potent emotions and themes, many otherwise wouldn't of expected. With there a befitting and meaningful thought process behind his work, that has arguably made his career and talents so memorable. Another such actor who's work I'm able to seek and find such relief from is that of Dwayne Johnson, as his work has spanned from voice-over, animation work to several different and memorable collaborations with Kevin Hart. While his acting abilities in contrast to many others upon this list, aren't entirely justifiable or comparable, it's seemingly the pure joy and rather escapism I receive from his work that has made him a personal favourite. For whose work and rather personality I can't help but admire.
While finally an actor whose work I personally have adored to date and can't wait to see more of, is that of Timothée Chalamet. With his young and developing career to date, consisting of some truly remarkable and complex character studies, befitting to his astonishing talents. While to date, his work in Dune and Drama, Beautiful Boy have been particularly potent studies, demonstrating his marvelous and often seemingly natural ability to dive deep in what makes often conflicting and intricate stories and characters alike tick. As it's remarkable and honestly fulfilling to see such an upcoming actor posses such formidable abilities. That perfectly lend themselves to any subsequent roles he chooses to portray. As these actors very works and abilities have often provided themselves perfectly to there craft, depicting and crafting some of our times greatest ever performances.
