There are a lot of heavily Anticipated Films for 2022, leaving fans and audiences alike eager to see and get that next big screen cinema experience. Instead of reviewing another film today, I've chosen to give you my list and thoughts on some of the most Anticipated films coming soon!
The Batman
The Batman, We've seen a whole bunch of actors and directors ranging from Ben Affleck, George Clooney to Michael Keaton and in my opinion the best batman himself Christian Bale take the reigns of The Dark Knight. As director Matt Reeves sees his iteration include Robert Pattinson as he dawns the masked vigilante. As the Riddler (Paul Dano) plays a subsequent and obviously dangerous game of Cat and mouse with Batman and Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) which will hit and go deep into the core of not just Batman but the Wayne family as a whole. With this iteration taking a much more darker and deeper look into the Dark Knight as Pattinson went onto say that "it does feel incredibly different tonally" as well as being "strange and kind of sad and quite touching. It's a really, really unusual Batman Story" With this being only the start of this era into Pattinsons Batman portrayal, with there already being planned projects including The Gotham City Police Department and Colin Farrell's Penguin. With Pattinson feeling "mind boggled" at the idea of following up this first installment. With many fans expecting to see a darker, more depressed and violent version of Batman when compared to the work of Ben Affleck and Christian Bale of late. With this journey allegedly seeing Batman at his true beginnings as he seeks and starts his journey for vengeance. With there already being a huge amount of sneak trailers and clips of the film out there, as well as countless interviews making me assured that if I wanted to, I could a write a whole lot more about this very anticipated film. However I do think steering away from it all, wont leave me regretting anything, once I've seen it in the Cinema. With the orginal trailer doing it enough justice for me at the moment.
Knives Out 2
Knives Out 2, There is just something beautiful about an old fashioned who done it, murder mystery isn't there. With everyone seeminginly having there own theories on who and how they did it. With the eccentric and star studded cast of the orginal earning and I think making it one the best casted films of 2019. With director Sam Johnson earning back a lot of plaudits after the mixed range of opinions received from Star Wars The Last Jedi. By then again that's an entirely different conversation and probably post in itself. With Rian Johnson returning as writer, director and producer of the sequel as Daniel Craig reprises his role as the eccentric, edgy and hard fought detective, Benoit Blanc. With Johnson himself I think being a perfect director for such a film, with him yet again creating a unique orginal idea from what relatively is a popular and common genre in a way whilst still adding new characters, settings and whole new storyline. With it being for those reasons and yet again the star filled cast he's acquired for the sequel including Madelyn Cline, Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr and Dave Bautista, why this is a theatrical event most anticipated by fans and critics alike.
Nope
Nope, It's hard to ignore a new release from Jordon Peele, every subsequent film since the success of 'Get Out' has had people intrigued and on edge on what he'll do next. With his work including 2019's Us and 2021's Revival of the 1992 classic Candyman. With him once again returning to write, produce and direct this upcoming American horror. As he once again teams up with, now Oscar and academy award winner Daniel Kaluuya and Ethan Cutkosky. With his third films movie poster being the only really substantial insight we have into the project, as it pictures an ominous-looking storm cloud hovering above a mountain village. With this little insight giving people and Jordan Peele fans alike all they need to get excited about this anticipated Horror Mystery.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, For many ever since phase 4 began there has been a feeling within the marvel fanbase that most projects are relatively the same formula when it comes to action and overall story. With Marvel extending its illustrious range of projects onto Disney plus as series such as Wanda Vision and Loki have played and change the MCU, as we enter the Multiverse. I believe that MCU as a whole has already seen its peak, as so many franchises do with Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame offering some of the best moments within the timeline so far. Personally I felt the series' such as Loki and Hawkeye were okay but still thoroughly believe, that the Cinema is where the MCU belongs, with Spider- Man No Way Home proving just that. That's why instead of choosing one of upcoming Disney Plus MCU projects to talk about, I feel most MCU fans alike will be waiting in anticipation for the 6th May release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As Dr Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) returns to fight the threat of the subsequent forbidden spell as a portal to the multiverse has opened. With it emerging through the Post-credit trailer that this threat might just be too big for his team to handle. With many excited to see the whole range of possibilities the Multiverse has to offer, as its somewhat clear that we'll see some similar variant of the Dr Strange as to the one seen in Episode 4 of 'What If ..?'. As well as further exciting cameos which has played and been heavily rumored ever since the project returned for reshoots late last year. With this idea of future Cameos and new MCU characters being introduced ever since the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in SMNWH. With John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt being rumored to appear ever since Disney acquired the rights of the Fantastic Four. Whilst Tom Cruise's possible involvement has rumors leading fans to believe that he might play a variant of Tony Stark. Meanwhile its never out the question that whilst Sam Raimi directs that Tobey Maguire might still return once again. As the idea of alternate realties, amazing cameos and ferocious battles has fans eager and anticipating to return to theatres for hopefully another once in a lifetime experience.
Killers of the Flower Moon
Killers of the Flower Moon, Whatever the project is, if both Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are involved its bound to get plenty of attention and leave fans intrigued to see what they've worked on, with the final product on so many occasions being some of the highest quality films cinema has to offer. Whether its from there work on Shutter Island or The Wolf of Wall Street. With this is upcoming American Western Crime Drama Film being directed and produced by Scorsese himself whilst written by Eric Roth and based upon the on 2017 nonfiction book of the same name by David Grann. With this being the sixth collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio whilst following the investigation of a series of murders of wealthy Osage people that live in the Osage County, Oklahoma in the early 1920s - after big oil deposits were discovered beneath their land. With the Film due to be released and available to stream on Apple TV Plus. With this sure to be hard hitting and spine tingling picture which possibly allows for a slower, more methodical guide for audiences throughout its runtime. When compared to some other pieces of Scorsese's work. As there's sure to be plenty of screen time dedicated to creating and devising a picture that functions as a modernistic crime western that has loads of respect for it protagonists by ensuring and creating complex, deep characters and intricate and nuanced themes. With it clear from some of his most recent work of late, that Scorsese is definitely considering such an approach and what I believe he's interested in doing more of. With work such as the 'Silence' and 'The Irishman' to date being of similar vein. Whatever style or approach Scorsese chose's I'm sure it will be one that leaves viewers satisfied and in awe of his work and meticulous craftsmanship.
Babylon
Babylon, is an upcoming period drama film starring, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep and Tobey Maguire who appears in a supporting role as well as serving an executive producer role. As director of La La Land and Whiplash, Damien Chazelle writes and directs this upcoming Screenplay. Based on the story and set in a Pre-Code Hollywood in the late 1920s and early 1930s during the film industry's transition between and from silent films to talkies. With the project being surrounded by immediate buzz as soon as Director Damien Chazelle took a draft of the films script to the major studies back in the summer of 2019. With this cast never existing to disappoint before, whilst with such an interesting and influential moment within the film industry used as the stories main pivot and setting. Its sure seems to be great and impactful insight and therefore a highly anticipated film for 2022.
Don't Worry Darling
Don't Worry Darling, This upcoming psychological thriller, directed by Olivia Wilde and written by Katie Silberman is based upon the story by Carey, Shane Van Dyke and Silberman. Intended for a September 23rd release date, this American psychological thriller Stars Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh and entails a 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community as they start to begin and worry that his glamorous company may be hiding some disturbing secrets. With the project being Wilde's follow-up to her breakthrough directorial debut 'Booksmart' even though these two movies couldn't be more different even if they tried. As speaking to Vogue gave Wilde the opportunity to explain how psychosexual thrillers such as 'Fatal Attraction' (1987) and 'Indecent Proposal' (1993) have served as sources of inspiration as she was quoted as saying that from a filmmakers perspective "Those movies are] really sexy, in a grown-up way... I kept saying, 'Why isn't there any good sex in film anymore?'" With this sure to gain plenty of attention from both critics and Harry styles fans in particular with it being another unique and interesting project for him to showcase and extend his array of filmmaking abilities and ever extending film credentials.
Other Honorable Mentions
Other Honorable mentions that are sure to be highly anticipated include, the sequel to the groundbreaking 2009 film Avatar, Thor Love and Thunder, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Part One. Tom Cruises return as "Maverick" Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, The Flash, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Northman, Death on the Nile. As well as Chris Evans is surprising role as a voice over actor, as Toy Story's Action Figure Buzz Lightyear in 'Lightyear' which acts as an origin story to famous action figure and his subsequent adventures to infinity and beyond. With Jackass Forever also hitting cinema screens this week for the last time. With it sure looking like that Cinema's and the Film industry in general is coming back stronger than ever since Covid. With productions more than ever returning to complete and finish in time before there intended release dates. As people are more than ever also returning to Cinema and Theatre screens. Which the Industry more than ever needs as well as having plenty of projects that offer a wider range of genres, themes, protagonists, storylines, narratives and opportunities for up and coming directors and actors alike.
